The Tee Section Filter is a conventional spill control oil-water separator fitted with a radial flow filter.  The filter is charged with oil absorbing media that allows water to pass through freely.

During low to medium flows, the system functions as a conventional oil-water separator (left) trapping and retaining oil within the vault.  At design flows (right), the restrictor forces the water level to rise causing the mixed oil and water to pass through the media where the oil is removed.  Solids are trapped by gravimetric separation and the vaults may be sized per local requirements to meet TSS removal.  Additional tees and filters may be added for higher oil removal rates.

wpe22.jpg (13213 bytes)Benefits of Using Tee Section Filter Versus Conventional Inserts

Hydrocarbons are concentrated prior to filtration - media is more effective.

Solids are removed via separation prior to filtration - helps prevent blinding.

Media is kept dry between storm events - media life is extended.

Filtration/treatment can be engineered via flow restriction.

Bypass/overflow is not compromised.

Tee section filters can be used in series providing a "treatment train".

Tee section filters can be used in parallel to increase treatment capacity.
